Doug began his law enforcement career in San Antonio Texas when he attended the 2000-C class of the Alamo Area Law Enforcement Academy in 2001 and is a certified peace officer in the state of Texas.  He began working with the Lavonia Police Department in October of 2002 and graduated the North East Georgia Regional Academy in 2003.  In February 2004 Doug attended On-scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 1 and in March 2005 Doug attended On-scene traffic Accident Level 2, making him a traffic accident investigator.   In April 2004 Doug began training and will assist in maintaining the Lavonia PD website. In May of 2006 Doug took over as the department's State Certification Manager. In July of 2006 Doug was promoted to Corporal.

          Doug attended Hart County High School and graduated in 1992.  He is married to the former Wendy Hamby of Lavonia and they have six children:  Tony, Daniel, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Phillip, and Nathan.
