The patrol division is divided into several units including uniform patrol, Explorer Post 313, bicycle patrol, animal control / code enforcement.   This comprises the backbone of the department answering calls for service and patrolling the city in an effort to deter crime. 

Uniform Patrol is divided into three shifts to provide 24 hour / 7 days a week police protection to the citizens, visitors, and businesses in the city.  Each shift consists of a supervisor and one to three patrolmen.

The Uniform Patrol Division is headed by Capt. Brooks Moorhead.
