Lieutenant Michael Schulman

          Michael began his law enforcement career with the Lavonia Police Department in August of 2001.  He graduated from his basic mandate course in November of that same year.  Michael was named the "V.F.W. Officer of the Year" for 2002.  In October 2003 Michael was promoted to Sergeant, where he currently serves as night watch commander.

          Prior to working in law enforcement, Michael worked for the Missing Children Help Center in Atlanta where he served as manager from 1996.  In 1998 Michael began working with the Georgia Department of Corrections and served on the Special Operations Tactical Squad.  In   2000 he was promoted to Sergeant which gave him the added duties of a supervisor.   In late 2004 Michael began helping oversee the certification process of the Lavonia Police Department as outlined by the Georgia Professional Accreditation Coalition (GPAC).  In July of 2006 Michael was promoted to Lieutenant and is the shift commander of Night Shift.

          Michael attended Pascack Valley High School, New Jersey where he graduated in 1984.  From there he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Ramapo College located in Mahwah New Jersey in  1991.

          Michael currently serves as the RT 9-11 S.W.A.T. coordinator for the department.
